Does anyone know if Lisa is making progress with this one? I think of this one often, since first seeing it online, but don't want to bother her about it.View attachment 32449

Just hear back from Lisa Bloodnick. She discovered the bean in 2018 in her grow outs, but unfortunately she is not growing out this bean in 2019.

Thanks for checking! I wonder if she wants someone to grow them out for her next year?

Saw these on a website but they won't ship to US. :(View attachment 32448 View attachment 32447

@BeanQueen, Consider those two pretty beans that you saw on Beans And Herbs UK on order. The fellow in the Czech Republic that I traded beans with this spring will get them for us. I can probably split the packets with you. I don't know when he will do it as he is on vacation in Croatia right now, but we will have them to plant for next year. You will be able to grow pounds and pounds of them. They will look gorgeous filling up a quart jar. Gee I have chickens hatched and counted already don't I... LOL. We definitely need some better bean growing weather next year.

I found those beans very interesting also. Glad you posted the photos of those beans and the link to the website.

Working on my files today, keeping track of my outcrosses first, then will create files for the varieties I have grown and will try to include an origin history for each, too.

So Dana's Mercury, from the file above, is a Magpie outcross from 2018. I had written 2-3' branched bush last year. I planted all the seed I had this year (two pods were the entirety of my 2018 harvest) and one is looking like a pole type.

Some of Serene flowers have dark purple speckles on the outer petals, weird!

Does anyone else grow Sultan's Golden Crescent? I feel like it's too cool of a bean to be lost with time, you can't readily find it online it seems. I had a bad year with them last year so everything is riding on a handful of plants this year. A bean for you to consider to help continue for future generations: http://www.honeymanseed.com/productDetail.asp_Q_catID_E_134_A_subCatID_E_346_A_productID_E_13141

When I first saw the Sultan's beans in the early 1980's. They were being traded around Seed Savers Exchange membership. They were being called somthing a little different then. Sultan's Golden Moon was the yellow podded one and Sultan's Emerald Moon was the green podded one. Both beans are kept in the SSE's Heritage Farm bean collection. They both have extremely cresent shaped pods don't they !

It's nice to see rare and heirloom beans being grown more widely but these two beans I think are safe and secure in the SSE collection, but it doesn't hurt to have more people growing them.
