Are you cutting off the pollen bearing Anthers of the female flower before you do the cross pollination?

Yes. There could be some early contamination from insects. But, the pollen don't ripen until later in the day.

A friend of mine belongs to a Daylily Guild...she and her husband have named species and they have given me a few and they are all beautiful...I love your white one...I need to drive south some day to get a good look at what you have...

When I bought my first daylily I went to a local backyard farm, that is now a big business. They had a little sign about how it began as a backyard hobby. "That will not happen to me," I said to myself. I did not heed the warning. Of all life's possible addictions I guess this is the safest one. Their beauty seems endless.
