Are you speaking of the buckeye tree or a perennial flowering plant like rudbeckia?I tried to plant some Calif Buckeye's a few years ago. They are the first to bloom and the first to die off. Don't know if they ever took since we moved.
ahh...I meant first to leaf out and first to die off. But they do bloom just before they die off. They get brown and dried up by August.
