ok had a small harvest yesterday :
2 - 1 gallon bags of blackberries
1 - quart bag size of peppers
1 - tomato

cost wise I figure if I bought these at the grocery:
14.00 for the blackberries
.79 for peppers
2.29 for tomato (big one)

You can get a free google account and set up a spread sheet in their documents section. That is where mine is. Speaking of which, I need to update it.

Ok, lucky person in East Texas, I have family in that area and they have been picking berries also. Here in Mo the wild berries arent ripe till mid or end July, are yours tame or wild.. oh, how I cant wait for blackberries.... the jams, the ice cream toppings, the cobblers..fresh on cereal..ummmmm

I have to sit and update some prices on my sheet... I wasn't sure at first how to price certain things either. Wife, you mentioned the dandelions earlier... then I went and got clover and honeysuckle for jellies... and rosemary... I ended up pricing that according to the price I ask for the jellies and how much made how many jars. Like 2 1/2 cups of honeysuckle makes 4 jars sold at $8 each. Like that! So I figure for those odd harvests, we count on what they become or how they are used. If they are used like salad greens, price 'em as salad greens.

I am getting strawberries!
I have picked 8 quarts so far, and I have 2 strawberry pies in the refrigerator right now!

So far I've picked 18 Cherry Belle radishes. Since I don't buy radishes (never have) can somebody tell me approximately what that would have cost me?

It hasn't been enough for my recipe, though . . . .recipe calls for a cup of roughly chopped radishes. If I roughly chopped these radishes I'd have about a quarter cup, sigh. They're just hanging out in the fridge until more are ready to pick.

Oh, and we got 6 strawberries yesterday, only 3 of which were anywhere near grocery store size. How much do 6 strawberries cost? At the moment, our grocery store is selling them for $1.50/pint.

Weighing them would be best. I've found bunches of radish at the store weighing just over 1 lb, for $1.69. So I weigh mine and go by store weight prices.

I also weight my strawberries. Most stores sell containers of 16 oz (1 lb) right now for $2.50, or Organic between $3.00-$3.50 because its the season. Later in the season I will change my prices on my strawberries because they will go up in price. June bearing berries are the popular farm choice when I am... so to have Everbearing is a blessing.
