What Are You Planting Today, This Week, This Month?

I was thinking 2014 was warmer than usual and that this year we were the same as last year, but we are actually warmer than last year, but also DS and DD have a big blue Walmart swimming pool that we have put up in the past in May before and had 90 degrees and were swimming, but I do not see 90 on Accuweather for even June, so I am confused, but also I remember planting tomatoes and peppers in May and covering them for days.

I put in seed for more lettuce, beets, Swiss Chard, mustard and bush beans. I cut the first spinach mustard. I think it tastes pretty mild, like spinach. Liked it so far and the rest of family liked it, except DS, who said he will never ask for cooked spinach.

Tomatoes, peppers and ... ummm ... marigolds!

There really isn't much not in the garden except eggplant, basil and Cucurbitaceae. That is such a weird word ... surely there is a better one that doesn't require a Merriam Webster's to figure out. Anyway, getting what turns out to be an unnecessary jump on the 2015 season, those cucumber, squash, melon seedlings are all in flats in the backyard ... The squash/pumpkins should just about be the right size to be transplanted out without too much shock.

Spinach mustard, @Gardening with Rabbits ? That's a mustard, right? Something like Southern Giant Curled ... that's an interesting variety name. If I got this right, the original home to this heirloom wasn't the US South. It was India!

Everything...I'm trying to plant everything today. I don't know if I'm going to succeed but I'm trying for all I'm worth. So far, progress is slow, but it's a beautiful day for it and I'm going to keep pluggin'.

Well, I didn't plant today, but I spent 5 hours screening top soil for some more raised gardens. Put down a layer of weed block, a 2" bottom layer of peat moss, then 8" of freshly screened top soil. Tomorrow I will top dress with composted chicken manure and Black Kow. Another 64 square feet of planting space.

I also plan on sectioning off the chicken run....since they are free ranging now...and putting in some raised gardens. I will take advantage of the 1x2 welded wire for vining veggies. I figure I can get about another 64 square feet of growing space in there, too.

A busy Memorial Day weekend here. one of the prettiest days we've had so far. Mid 60's, not a cloud in the sky. Now, that I have taken a shower, I can feel the sunburn!

BTW...the new greenhouse is being shipped from Washington State on Tuesday. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Four rows of 20 corn seed, 80 corn planted!
Can probably fit in 3 more rows, for a total of 140 corn plants.
Heirloom Sweet Corn 'Country Gentleman'.
Hope the black birds don't get smart!
These boogers! I keep saving their babies and parents repay me by eating my corn...
