What Are You Planting Today, This Week, This Month?

I just planted some bareroot roses one of them being the Cecil Brunner climber and the other a bush darn if it isn't stormy. I have wind protection around them but will have to cover from frost I guess. We have wind, rain and snow coming in Friday and Saturday but today is wind at 35mph with gusts to 55. Yuk! My daffodils are blooming and I found a dutch iris in bloom in the front flower bed. My older roses are leafing out also and their are flower buds on my plum tree. I hope it doesn't get too cold.

We just picked up three more fruit trees yesterday and will plant them as soon as the rain stops. We just had to move our two-year old plum and nectarine trees and are waiting to see if they survive the move. If they do, we will have six fruit trees on the property. A plum, nectarine, orange, apple, and two different cherries.

We can't grow orange trees here. It gets too cold but we have a plum, apricot and peach and we have two grape vines. We do pretty good with the vegetables though. Tomatoes are a challenge since it gets so hot in summer.
We do miss our orange tree that we had when we lived in the San Juaquin Valley.

I replanted some onion sets that we are using for green onions. We moved the goat pasture and the onions were inside of it. There would be no onios left for us if I left them.
These are from seeds from our own onions last year. I just sprinkled them on the ground in the fall and they came up nicely. We transplanted most of them into the onion bed and they look so much better, then the starts we normally buy.

Right now we have to wait to plant til the rains stop. Today we got hail. I look forward to getting more seeds and bulbs in the ground.
The rain is good though. The seeds that we planted in the chicken yard are coming up and so is our asparagus.

The one thing about all this rain we've had in the desert and the snow we had in Jan. is the wildflowers that will bloom this spring. They look so pretty. Since most of our two acres is desert we get a lot of the wildflowers and wild bushes in bloom. The creosote bushes and the indigo bush are pretty.

I have a Cecil Brunner growing on a trellis on the front of my house, I love it! Huge rain and wind storms here too,,,,Im glad the cherry trees arent blooming, my neighbor has hundreds and last year the crop was ruined. I want more fruit trees!!!

I bought a new rose bush today called "Medalion", and early today I checked on the fruit trees and the plum is in bloom. There are dozens of buds and about four blooms. I'm afraid the storm coming in tomorrow will kill the blossoms. The apricot and peach aren't as far along so they should be fine.

I have Medallion~ had it as a kid as well, very big fragrant blooms in a pretty apricot color, youll love it!

I have medalion also. I love it. Mine grows pretty tall even though I prune it down every December.

The picture looked good. I used to have one called Apricot Nector and this looks almost like it I have Mr. Lincoln, Oklahoma, Peace, John F. Kennedy, Tiffany, Angel Face, Jacobs Coat (climber), Iceberg, Double Delight, I have a French rose, pink but can't remember the name right now. It looks like a David Austin rose and of course the Cecil Brunner and the Medallion. I have three or four more but don't recall their names and I have three Lady Banks roses on my front fence facing the road. Roses are my first love but bearded iris come a close second. I have over 75 of them of all colors.
