Kitchen coming along ok.,

And what about food bits? It does dull the color a bit. Bit you don'y even notice almost immediately.

The ones I have seen my husband do where the owner wanted the holes visible weren't in a kitchen. Fireplaces, entry walls etc.
It's actually a lot harder to grout those, you have to use a grout bag and be careful when wiping the grout down in the finish.

DW asked about the pits and holes when we looked at it. She thought it night mare of food particles and grime. The salesman told us it would be no problem, he must have known it would be filled with grout.

@Collector check with installer, but if you want to get some of
the color back an acid wash may help.

if you go that route do it before sealing. and yes, a backsplash
you do want to seal up well before food stains happen... the sealer
may also give more color.

My neighbor who is putting it up right now was telling me the holes and pits will get filled in during grouting but it will retain color. Never thought about acid wash I may do it.

best when done right away before grout really sets up, but um, maybe it is epoxy grout, which in that case may need different treatment... not sure. forgot that epoxy grout is a new thing (not common when i was working for the family biz). ask installer... :) i love tile/stone work of almost any kind.

Well the tile is up and looks good.

Just grout and change out the outlets and covers. Getting closer to done.

Looks great Collector!

I think it will be fine w/o an acid wash.
DH has been a tile setter for... um...48 years, give or take. I can only remember a few times he ever had to use muriatic acid, and it's been a very long time since then.
