    Rain barrell

I haven't posted in a while, and this is a bit belated, but here is mine. The paint job was done by spraying a base coat, then holding up various leaves and spraying over them. IMO it would have looked much better in green hues, but I already had black and blue and no money to buy green paint...

Argh! Not the flower it was supposed to be!!!

Oh, LOL! I didn't mean it like THAT! Sometimes I really need to reread before I post. (sigh) :hu Anyways, Vfem, I'll send you postage this fall if you want to send some bulbs that you haven't transplanted. OR we could meet at the NC farmer's market the next time I am in town. My friend is...

    Everything is slowly dying...

Thanks Augustmom! :D I really enjoy sharing my garden with everyone out there - but ever since summer hit I haven't been good about updating the blog! Today I chose to go out on our boat rather than take pictures! I really need to get an update, as some things came back and some others died...

Pumpkin plant in my compost pile

Cool! I had a tomato growing out of my pile! I had to transplant it, but I hope it comes back. I'm sure you'll get some great pumpkins!

    Where to buy tulip bulbs?

Great info, thanks! We don't have BJ's here, but now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure Costco sells tulips in the Fall... I think! Thanks for jogging my memory. I'm off to investigate Parkseed as well!

Argh! Not the flower it was supposed to be!!!

Ahem. I think I know someone who lives in a zone hotter than you. ;)

    My garden is...

I'm with ya, except mine died from too much water (I'm assuming you're in a drought?). I am replanting some stuff and chalking it up as a mistake to learn from! :) If you haven't done it yet, write your thoughts down somewhere. I've found it's easier to "get it right" the next time around when...

    Do I thin out Cilantro?

Sweet! That's the one! Delfino! Thanks, Hattie! :weee I was also reading about planting it in the ground and just letting it reseed itself. I think I will sow the current seads in a flower bed and see what happens. :hu If anyone wants to get some (slow-to-bolt!) Delfino Cilantro, here's a...

    Do I thin out Cilantro?

I know, I asked before realizing that I may have sounded too snobby for a farmer's market  ;) but was pleasantly surprised that she could spit it right out at me! Wow! Didn't help me much since I forgot the name though... Many vendors up there are knowledgeable about the stuff they're...

    Where to buy tulip bulbs?

I want to get some tulip bulbs this Fall. I've never done tulips before, but the school I used to work at had the students plant some each Fall - and I figure if they can do it, I can, too! A good friend of mine is afraid to garden (not sure why, but she won't plant anything herself!). She has...

    Shade Windowbox Suggestions? It's Done!

Oh. My. Gosh. I had to go back and look at the picture again! I love it! Great idea and it looks so good! :woot :clap

    Do I thin out Cilantro?

I just bought some "summer cilantro" at the NC farmer's market last weekend. The leaves looked more like dill, but the flavor was definitely cilantro. I asked for the latin name, but failed to write it down - and promptly forgot it! I was visiting a friend, so I can't go back to ask again - at...

    Heirloom Tomato

Vfem: I honestly thought about giving you a heads-up, but it was a very last-minute decision and I was there for a weekend-long babyshower for one of my best friends that I never get to see. :) Next time we shall meet up for sure! :D Hattie: Somehow I knew you'd be the one to tell me you were...

    Heirloom Tomato

Does anyone grow Black Trifle? I just picked up a plant at the Farmer's Market in Raleigh, NC (was visiting a friend). I couldn't resist: it only cost $2.00! On a side note, I have a tomato plant growing out of my compost bin! Not sure what it is, but I am going to try to transplant it this week.

    Everything is slowly dying...

Oooh, I'm just now checking back in. French drains look great, but not sure they would work in my garden. I'm going to go for raised beds next year. I did get my second wind and I am going to be planting an heirloom tomato (Black Trifle) and heirloom spinach (not real spinach, but that's what...
