Does anyone know if pumpkins and watermelons have deep or shallow roots that spread?

I have my coworkers trained so that whenever we have a potluck type of treat day - at the end of the day the leftovers are put in a bag for my chicks. They get some unusual treats....but it is fun to watch em....

Do you think it would grow from root pieces?

I will just have to wait longer for my first good tomato this year....

We finally have a weekend that I can use it....I'm sure I'll be sick of my tiller by Sunday night lol

Funny thing is I usually put my garden in around the end of april but didn't because the tiller was still in the shop. Took em over a month..grrrr. but it was a stroke of luck because we had a freak late season frost and many people lost started gardens

Grrrrr ....kansas weather has been freaky this year but it is finally going to be planting time. I have greens in planters on my deck and thank goodness for trash bags to cover em....they have survived so far. Looking forward to my first salad this week. Here's the fun part..... I wasn't...

Update on the powermate! Took it in to the factory auth dealer for repairs...it got caught in snow out here....so was prepared for the worst. They quoted 160....still cheaper than a new one so I had em do the work. New fuel filter and carburator and it runs like new....actually better than...

I am excited to read this.... I have some quinoa for my front garden and some amaranth....pretty and edible....can't beat that...have you tried any of the greens?

Most of the blacberry branches are being tied to a trellis....thought about the strawberries being in a circle around it....

Will strawberries coexist with blackberries? I have a great lil patch of blackberries though about puttiing my strawberry plants with them
