    Plant ID Please

I did some reading about Lemon Beebalm and it does like to grow in this area. I am really hoping it becomes a permanent plant and knowing how well this one is growing, I may plant some next year in this area. Thanks again everyone!! :-)

    Plant ID Please

Ok guys....I stand corrected....there is the SLIGHTEST hint of smell to this flower. It has a lemony smell to it. Not knowing it was a bee balm, I didn't recognize the smell as even having fragrance. But it does, just very faint. Thanks again!! -)

    Plant ID Please

Thanks so much guys!!! I googled the Horse Mint and found this that seems to match fairly close to what this plant might be in the Burpee Seed Catalog. Bergamo Monarda.... Oddly enough it has no smell!! Disappointing but I am enjoying this plant greatly. It is a perennial so I am praying it...

    Plant ID Please

Ok all you flower experts! Can you ID this plant for me? It is about the same size or a bit taller than a snapdragon. (one is growing on the right of this plant) This plant has similar leaves as a snapdragon. I am not sure if this plant is a wild flower or not. Every spring I sprinkle wild...

    how to properly prune tomatoes

You have been given some great advice! I don't prune tomatoes either. They grow as they grow. And usually they over grow and become monsters! A few plants can fruit out enough to feed the entire neighborhood! Definitely get plants suited for your climate. It makes all the world of difference...

    First greens of the year!!

Oh how lovely!! Your basket is gorgeous!! Don't you just feel so satisfied growing your own food? I just love to go into the garden and cut lettuce or other veggies for immediate consumption. I keep chickens too, so it is easy to swing by the coop for eggs as well. Such a good feeling to know...

    Hail

Oh that is awful!! I have had this happen to my veggie garden as well. We get our worst hail in June and July, of course when plants are fruiting out. 2 inches of large hail will destroy it all. I hope you have time to replant!

    OK, I Got the Dog

Our little Maltese is a real puller. He is perfect in every other way, but is just awful on a leash. I recently purchased a no pull harness for him and it has made a huge difference! He wants to pull but when he tries, the harness seems to stop him from tugging hard. This is only a recent...

    north carolina

Hello there and welcome to TEG! Yes it takes time to learn how to garden in different climates and zones. The first year might be a trial and error period but what you learn from it this year, you will learn what not to do next year. :-)

@baymule LOL...I guess elevation is relative. If I went to 600 feet right now I would feel like someone was jamming oxygen down into my lungs! Air is pretty thin up here. Hence I believe I lost my mind years ago. :th

    Please Help My Lilac!

@Nyboy Maybe this is my problem....the plant IS suckering out. Each year it gets wider and wider! LOL I will get a picture soon here. Don't have on in the PC right now. So if it is putting too much energy into growing new shoots, it may not have any left for the flowers? What do I do about...

    Please Help My Lilac!

Hello everyone! OK...I am in Zone 6b -5 to 0 Average Min. Temp. This area has Ponderosa Pine, Juniper and Pinyon Trees. Our last frost date is May 22. We did have two frosts right after the buds came out in April however on those nights I covered the plant with a large tarp so no frost...

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! @digitS' Wow, Las Cruces!! I am not too far from there...we are up in the South Central Mountains! Love it up here! I sure hope we DO get a good monsoon season this year. We had a really nice one last year. But previous years the rains never came like...

@baymule I am in New Mexico, high up in the mountains at 7,000 feet. Tough to garden up at this altitude, intense UV, and short growing season. So I have to choose wisely. I do have a greenhouse so I can extend my growing season. I keep Black Australorps and Plymouth Barred Rocks. All spoiled...

    Bermuda Grass Anyone?

@so lucky A guy at the garden center at the local Walmart suggested some sort of Kentucky grass. I thought maybe he was crazy, growing Kentucky grass out here, LOL, but maybe it is also worth looking into. Does it take a lot of water to maintain? This is my concern...after I get it started and...

    Bermuda Grass Anyone?

Thanks for all this help guys and gals! Buffalo grass USED to be a native grass around here until cattle grazing back in the late 1800's and early 1900's and it was nearly wiped out. Occasionally I will see a clump of it in some field where it has somehow survived. Good idea @thistlebloom I...
