I'll just chime in that I think it's normal for the old leaves, long as the new leaves look ok.

Yours sounds like it's fine.

We're finally getting sun today, but my baby giant pumpkin succumbed to the hail damage... guh. It was starting to rot in the pits where the hail hit. Now I've got nothing on the vines.

SCG- What if you throw some Superthrive on your pumpkin plant? I've never tried the trick with pumpkins, but I've had some other plants that it not only forced out new blossoms- it also made them produce fruits double time. Also (and this will show what kind of research I've done on growing giant pumpkins) I saw on a Lifetime movie once with Shannon Doughtery where she protected her giant pumpkins from the weather with those party tent things.

Yes, I say a show about those huge dinner plate dahlias... the guy had a set up where he was able to cover the blossoms, if it rained! Each one had a stand next to it- that would hold an umbrella! It is possible to take all things, too far!

lesa- I sincerely hope that my husband never sees that show, as I write this we have 7 market umbrellas scattered around the backyard! :gig The man can not go to a hardware store without picking up some sort of shade covering. He finished putting up a new back patio roll out shade 2 days ago and propped a flipping market umbrella under it- I'm not even kidding! :lau Half my garden is protected under a giant mulberry tree... it protects the pumpkins pretty well from the elements. But I have to admit that if I spent a lot of time trying to raise something and my only hope of keeping it alive was to grab one of those umbrellas, I would probably do it! :tools

We had hail again today... BUTTTT one of my chickens got into the garden about 30 minutes before we got hail and pecked at another baby pumpkin, this one hasn't even had the flower open yet. Had to pick it off. At least it's not 3/3 for hail.

:barnie

I've got some "Sea Magic" coming on Wednesday. I had bought some cucumber beetle traps and had a coupon for 10$ off so I threw two of those in my cart to about equal 10$.

it rained on my pumpkins last night...........does this spell disaster for me and my pumpkins?

Rain keeps me from watering. So long as the leaves dry out they'll be fine. Pumpkins need a lot of water.

Here's the updates on my giant pumpkin.
