Show off your pumpkins

I had more pumpkins last year and turned them, once or twice.

Causing so much damage by missing that area with the sprinkler during the early season, 100+ weather - I didn't much like going to that end of the garden.

I guess that's why I completely forgot to turn them, this year. Wish I'd turned them. They were healthy and well-shaped in 2014. Oh well, they're okay and few.

Candy sweet!

It is only offered to Native Seed Search members or I would have bought more seed for 2015. They have "Taos" this year and I think it's a replacement. La Madera is close to Taos, geographically. Bumblebees probably don't fly that far, however ...

@Hal and I are content with it making some crosses, altho, I don't believe he was thinking about La Madera crossing with Autumn Crown ;).

Buttercup has been an absolute standard in my garden for decades. It doesn't produce fully mature fruits in a normal year or I'm not curing them properly or I really don't have the best place for storage. Still, they have been my best choice.

Since this is the pumpkin thread -- I'm convinced that there is a world of pumpkin culinary opportunities! Of course, there are dessert breads and soup but I substituted pumpkin for zucchini in another soup recipe - good!

who finds pumpkin easier to grow and, so far, as long keeping
I've grown Taos and it was far more consistent for fruit size, shape and color but I did not find it quite as early as La Madera under my conditions. It was quite a large hubbard type with cracked skin. Give it a go and report back, I'll be growing out the last of your La Madera seed you sent me in hopes of finding a cross but if all else fails I'll make one this season as I have to work on pumpkin crosses anyhow.

The easiest pumkpin to grow for it's beauty is Mrs. Wrinkles-no turning-just perfection.

Mrs Ranch said this is her contribution to this thread (she was busy while I was outside today). She also made a pear pie (my personal favorite so she must want something, LOL!!!).

So I guess When you are 10, having your photo taken is a chore. Where did that camera hog go? This is the most pleasant face that Aidan gave the camera for his pumpkin carving photo.

I had to laugh at that Cat. Smiling for the camera may be a chore beginning at 10, but it doesn't seem to have an expiration date as far as I can tell with my boys.
Cute kid, even frowning, and I love that creative pumpkin face. :)
