    Question about Bush Tomatos

I bought some Bush Early Girls from Garden Trends which is owned by Harris Seeds Co, And honestly I don't know if I'm wrong or not but from what my mother has always told me 'bush' plants are short and bushy like a shrub you know? And they aren't suppose to grow over a foot. Well I took this pic...

    My garden for 2018

Oh no! I cut a cross shape into the plastic tarp and take the pot with its bottom cut off and just start twisting it into the dirt half way so it's secured. Because so far it's not effecting the growth of my tomatoes or the bell peppers. Here's the video link where I got the idea from...

    My garden for 2018

I'm glad you asked Mary! I learned this trick from The Old Farmers Almanac, They posted a video on their site about what you could do with your left over pots, It was Up-cycling I think. And they said if you take any pot really and twist it into the ground around your plant it creates a water...

    My garden for 2018

Well my mom want's to use the Roma's mainly to make tomato sauce and can it since they are so meaty and less pulp and seed they are suppose to be the best for sauce making. That way we won't have to buy tomato sauce at the grocery stores for a while And we can just dice the early girls in with...

    My garden for 2018

I start the seeds off in cell trays, and once they get 4-5 leafs then I transplant straight into the pot that's buried in the ground. ^_^ When my sister saw the pots she asked my mother " You did cut the bottoms off those pots right? " I felt like Bill Engvall I wanted to say " Nah I was gonna...

    My garden for 2018

I love the black plastic tarp! It's 8 mil I think and that's pretty thick. The only weeds I see are inside the pots and the stragglers that grow on the outside where the tarp has been ripped for the opening with the pot. And I have water storing crystals so if it rains that's about 2 days of...

    My garden for 2018

Well I used the cloth woven like weed barrier as left over since we didn't have enough of the plastic mulch to stretch out, but personally? I hate it because the weeds are growing right through it And it rips so easy, But when I patch the spots it should double the cloth and help stop that. I...

    My garden for 2018

I just finished putting in the last transplant yesterday, I have around 100 Bell Peppers, 45 Bush Early Girls and 43 Bush Roma Tomatoes. Last thing I have to do is staking the plants and doing some patch work on the cloth weed barrier where it ripped from so much foot traffic when I was working.

    My compost piles so far...

I started this one back in March this is the oldest pile, most of its rotted and I thought it could do with some more cooking but my mom swiped some for her grapevines So that's why it's small looking ^_^ And this is the newest pile, I mowed the lawn today so I put two big bags full of...

New to Composting and tips would help please

I use to have chickens but a pack of dogs and foxes took out my flock sadly and that was the last straw out here so my mother and I called it quits on raising chickens because so many people out here let their dogs run wild.

New to Composting and tips would help please

With the new season coming up, I'm starting up gardening again in my old section. I stopped about 4 years ago and I'm finding myself trying new methods now. And with all the leafs from Fall/Winter I thought " Why not compost them? " I saw a video on Farmer's Almanac that said you want 2 parts...

I ordered some Yellow Belles II from Stokes Seeds and planted them back in late Feb 2015 and transplanted them when they were old enough and strong. The plants I have now are healthy they are full of peppers and blooms. But the peppers on them seem to take forever to ripen and then when they do...

    Question about Red&Yellow Bell Peppers

I'm growing Red and Yellow Bells and I sell them to a CO-OP and he told me last week that they aren't lasting very long for shelf life and I will pick them as they ripen on the plant since I don't want the bugs to attack them. But I was wondering If I should just start picking them once a week...
