Historically the record high at the airport for New Year's Eve was 81 F (27 C). Not any more. Friday, New Year's Eve we hit 83 F (28 C). Monday Morning's low the 3rd of January, is projected to be 34 F(1 C). Oh, the joys of the Gulf South in Winter.

Snow. I literally cannot remember the last snow here. I probably posted some pics and should look them up.

I think would be 2016. That was the last year we had measurable snow here and I think we had family in Auburn get snow that year.

it's snowed a few dozen times here already this season. most of those events already melted off each time too and the same likely with the snow we're due to get tonight as today is warm forecast and perhaps some rain until later when it gets colder again.

all these weather changes and frost heaving is why i can't ever plant strawberries too late in the fall as if i do by the spring most of them will be frost heaved right out of the ground.

Right now, Jan 1, 2022, I have elephant ears leafing out. I think I will put in for a new usda growing zone number.

The daffodils are sprouting here. The yard is full of purple and yellow wildflowers. It’s 79 degrees out. It feels a touch surreal.

No storm damage here but I know there were some trees across the road in town. It’s just supposed to be wind damage though

Yesterday it was 79 maybe even 80 at 2pm. Today’s high is 69 and it was at midnight. It’s 61 now and dropping. It’s supposed to start raining again around lunchtime and that’s supposed to change over to snow around 8-9pm and finally end around midnight.

we picked up some freezing rain and then snow last night, not too much, just an inch or two. enough to give me a reason to go out and shovel and get some fresh air. tonight it will be cold enough down to 10F. right now it is probably around 20F and the high today is forecast to hit 23F.

sunshine is nice that will burn off any remaining bits of snow i don't get scraped up.
